Acid Stain Finish

Acid Stained Concrete will produce beautiful, dazzling results.

What is acid staining?  How does it work?  Acid staining is created by mixing a liquid containing organic salt and acid (which is translucent) with concrete.  The acid mixed with the minerals already in the cement causes a chemical reaction which changes the color of the cement.  Since the color is in the cement it will not fade.  The results are a astonishing marbled color effect.  In addition, by adding a sealer, the surface is protected and it adds a brilliant, resilient, hard-wearing finish.

Where can I use acid stained concrete?

  • Patios

  • Walkways

  • Pool area

  • Driveways

  • Basements

  • High traffic areas

Preparation:  Preparation of the area to be acid stained is very important.  Not cleaning the concrete properly can cause other problems.  Some things, such as oil, glue, paint, etc., won't allow stain penetration.  Cross Timbers Concrete and Restoration specialists understand this vital step. They ensure complete removal of substances before sanding and etching the concrete.

Staining:  The acid stain is then applied and rubbed into the surface.  It is also important for this step to be done correctly to ensure getting the right color and consistency over the entire surface.  The stain needs to sit overnight before a sealant can be put on top.
